There is no sense of adventure, no natural progression. Nothing about this game design feels natural, it's way too.mechanical. From the awful debt design, to the broken up segmented chapter structure of the game and the small number of skits. I've finished around 7 chapters so far and it has been an abysmal experience. Don't take it seriously, and don't let it irritate you. You could finish it on Easy, just to finish the story, or you could watch all the cutscenes on Youtube to finish the story, and start playing another game that you'll have more fun with. The story will change and progress, but if it's not saving it for you now, then it won't by the end either. The silent protagonist thing was annoying, and I'm still terrible at the game, but I still had fun. I'm planning on doing a second playthrough soon, even. If you're not having fun with it this far in, then it's probably not for you. There's only one way to get good gameplay. There a many other ways to get good stories: books, TV, movies, whatever. As much as I love good stories in video games, stories are not a saving grace, or a central thing to judge quality on. fights and general gameplay), then you're not going to be able to care about the story. If you're not enjoying the plotless sections of the game (ie. The way I see it is: if you don't like how the game plays, then, regardless of how good the story is, you'll struggle through it. Should I continue on easy just to see the end of the story? I'm waiting for the moment where everything about the game design clicks, especially the levelling up system. I've heard the story is one of the best in any tales game but that alone isn't enough. And I absolutely hate the new levelling up system. It doesn't feel like a journey like xillia or most other jrpgs. I don't even mind the reused areas but progressing through this world is so badly designed. I really want to finish it and then judge it, but it's becoming harder to continue. The story chapters and the companion quests have been good, but there is an abrupt shift in momentum and pacing the moment you are required to do the fetch quests to pay the debt. The silent protagonist thing is so weird and awkward during cutscenes and skits. I'm wondering why xillia 2 gets praise on the Internet.
